ACAAM Celebrates Fellowship Program Membership Milestone

More than 30 ADM Fellowship Programs Enrolled as ACAAM Members

The American College of Addiction Medicine (ACAAM) has established itself as the go-to resource and advocate for academic addiction medicine fellowship programs. Today the organization is excited to announce it has exceeded 30 fellowship program institutional members, with a total of 32 programs currently enrolled. The ACAAM membership program was launched in May 2021.

“We are ecstatic to see fellowship programs enrolling as members and unlocking access to valuable benefits and resources for the faculty and fellows in their programs,” says ACAAM Membership Committee Chair, Alex Walley, MD. “The more programs that join our ACAAM membership coalition, the stronger our voices will be as we continue to advocate for resources needed to expand a fellowship-trained addiction medicine workforce.”

ACAAM’s Transition to a Membership Organization

ACAAM is the academic home for addiction medicine professionals. Originally founded in 2007 as the American Board of Addiction Medicine Foundation, the American College of Addiction Medicine (ACAAM) has been working behind the scenes for more than a decade to cement addiction medicine within the U.S. medical landscape by advocating for the nation’s first accredited addiction medicine fellowship programs. ACAAM’s leadership was critical to addiction medicine obtaining ABMS recognition and to achieving ACGME accreditation for addiction medicine fellowship programs.

This year ACAAM took another critical step in its role as the go-to resource and advocate for academic addiction medicine by launching its membership program. Addiction medicine fellowship programs are invited to join as institutional members, and individual membership is available to academic addiction physicians and trainees. Membership comes with a long list of valuable benefits and resources, including access to ACAAM’s premier on demand education and MOC offerings.

Welcome to ACAAM’s New Program Members!

ACAAM supports Fellowship Program Members by offering solutions to support fellow and faculty training, education, and recruitment.
