Applications Closed for Pediatric Virtual Rotations

Update...

The deadline has now passed for applications to the Boston Children’s Hospital Virtual Rotation for addiction medicine fellows.

Applications that were submitted by the December 10 deadline are being reviewed.

The Boston Children’s Pediatric Addiction Medicine Fellowship thanks the many fellows and program directors who have responded. The program notes that approximately twice as many applications were received as can be accommodated and apologizes for not being able to accept every applicant.

The Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Addiction Medicine Fellowship is taking applications from fellows in other addiction medicine programs (deadline December 10, 2021) for one-week virtual learning experiences in the first half of 2022 (January-June).

"Because of the particular challenges posed by the cognitive and developmental changes that mark adolescence, treatment for adolescent substance use requires a distinctive approach that recognizes and respects adolescents’ desire for independence while understanding the special vulnerabilities of this period of life. The Pediatric Addiction Medicine Rotation at Boston Children’s Hospital provides fellows in addiction medicine a one-week training experience that focuses on evaluation and treatment for adolescents and young adults with substance use problems and disorders. Over the course of the week, the fellow will be provided with

  • 16 hours of clinical observation of telehealth in the Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program (ASAP), including time spent with pediatricians, social workers, and psychiatrists,
  • an opportunity to attend virtual research and service delivery meetings,
  • an opportunity to access materials from research and clinical didactics during and after rotation, and
  • participate in ASAP virtual clinical rounds."
Interested fellows should discuss with their program directors before submitting applications to:
Liz Estey, Program Coordinator, Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program, Boston Children's Hospital
2 Brookline Place, Mailstop 3393, Brookline, MA 02445
[email protected]
Applications should include:
  • Name of fellowship program, fellow’s name, primary specialty, postal, and email addresses.
  • Top three weeks that the fellow wishes to matriculate from January – June 2022.
  • A maximum 200-word statement explaining why this rotation would be helpful to their fellowship experience and longer-term career goals in addiction medicine.

Don't delay, take advantage of this opportunity!
