Board Committees

Finance Committee
Chair: Valerie Carrejo, MD FAAFP
The Finance Committee is responsible for establishing a financial and auditing system that is consistent with current law and good accounting principles, preparing an annual budget for approval by the board, seeing that a certified audit or review is conducted annually, and supervising the maintenance of complete and correct records and books of all financial matters.

Nominating Committee
Chair: Jeanette M. Tetrault, MD FACP FASAM
The Nominating Committee is responsible for recommending a board rotation framework, creating, and implementing a process to select a slate of candidates for leadership positions within the organization.

Strategic Committees

Fellowship Committee
Chair: Sheila M. Specker, MD

The Fellowship Committee will provide support for addiction medicine fellowship training initiatives, including pipeline development efforts, resource creation, and NRMP Medicine and Pediatric Specialties Match oversight.

Education Committee
Chair: Claudia L.B. Moore, MD

The Education Committee will provide oversight on educational efforts of the organization, including current and new programs and products. The Committee will conduct regular needs assessments for faculty development and create educational resources to meet those needs.

Membership Committee
Chair: Christopher C. Holden, MD

The Membership Committee will consider membership eligibility requirements and considerations, analyze membership data, provide support for recruitment and retention strategies and activities, and work to create a Welcoming Environment for ACAAM members. 

Awards Committee
Chair: Jeanette M. Tetrault, MD FACP FASAM

The Awards Committee will lead ACAAM’s Awards & Recognition program reviewing award nominees and providing a slate of recipients for Board approval, as well as development of an ACAAM Awards & Recognition plan to provide additional recognition opportunities.

Partnership Advisory Group
Chair: Fred W. Rottnek, MD MAHCM FAAFP FASAM

The Partnership Advisory Group will be called upon as needed to identify and recommend opportunities for potential partnerships with external organizations, Federal partners, and/or philanthropic organizations. External liaisons report to this group their findings/reports.

Other Committees

Anti-Racism/Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee
Chair: Joseph M. Valdez, MD MPH FASAM
The Anti-Racism/Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee will develop, implement, integrate, and support strategies and activities to achieve priority goals related to anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion and to creating an equitable and welcoming environment.

ABAM Maintenance of Certification Committee
The ABAM Maintenance of Certification Committee provides recommendations to the ACAAM Board on issues applicable to Maintenance of ABAM certification efforts formally overseen by the ABAM Board of Directors. This includes, but is not limited to, recommending future changes to ABAM MOC, as well as recommending revocations or suspensions per the Federation of State Medicine Board.

Past Presidents Committee
The Past Presidents Committee will advise ACAAM’s president on issues and topics important to the organization and to the president.
