Bruce Hammond, CAE
Executive Director
For more than 20 years, Bruce Hammond, CAE, has served as a leading association/non-profit strategist for organizations serving a wide variety of constituents. Since 2015, he has worked exclusively with physician membership and certification organizations. Immediately prior to joining ACAAM, Hammond served as the lead governance & operations professional for the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ASPHO) and as Executive Director of the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board (HMDCB).
Since joining ACAAM, he has led the staff in developing a membership structure for the organization, created opportunities for regular networking through quarterly virtual convenings and an online member community, enhanced educational programs and products, and built effective and mutually beneficial relationships with other associations and federal agencies supporting the addiction medicine field.
He is an active member and volunteer of several association management and credentialing professional associations, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association Forum and as a volunteer for the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. He has also served as a volunteer for ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership. He has spoken at numerous professional events, and his articles have been featured in leading association trade publications. In September 2014, he was named to the association industry’s Forty Under 40 list, and in January 2016, he earned the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. He is married to his wife, Anna, and has two sons nearing their teenage years.
Tim Brennan, MD MPH
Vice President for Medical and Academic Affairs
Dr. Brennan is the Vice President for Medical and Academic Affairs at the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine. He is passionate about expanding high-quality and financially sustainable academic addiction medicine fellowship training around the United States. Dr. Brennan works with emerging and established fellowship programs from inception to accreditation. Additionally, he is the Director of the Addiction Institute at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospitals and the Program Director of the Fellowship in Addiction Medicine Program at the Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Brennan has spoken at state, national and international levels about addiction policy issues, particularly as related to young adults. He is the co-editor of Lippincott’s Essentials of Addiction Medicine and was appointed by Governor Cuomo to serve on the Medical Review Board at the New York State Justice Center.
Dr. Brennan is Board Certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and Board Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
Dawn Levreau
Director of Operations, Programs, and Products
Dawn Levreau is the Director of Operations, Programs, and Products for the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine (ACAAM). Before joining the ACAAM team, she served as the Director of Workforce and Career Development for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation associated with workforce initiatives, HPM career development experiences and academic resources and initiatives. Levreau was integral to the success of AAHPM special projects related to career development and workforce issues, as well as the development of specialty-specific curricular milestones and entrustable professional activities. Prior to working with AAHPM, Levreau served as the Administrative Director for the Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP), where she provided ongoing leadership, management, and support to AAP volunteer leadership, liaison groups, committees, and caucuses in addition to overseeing all programs and operations. She also served in several key leadership positions at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, working closely with the residency and fellowship training programs.
